A public pharmaceutical company involved in conducting a number of clinical trials for a variety of therapeutic programs.
The client needed a web-based application to automate the process of extracting information from a number of clinical trial project plans across therapeutic programs. This aggregate information was needed to dynamically generate reports on resource usage and to dynamically modify resource/task activities for purposes of performing what-if analyses and also for re-allocating resources across tasks, projects and programs.
Virtify implemented a web-based system based to sample relevant project plans in real-time to extract data, store the data in a central repository, and subsequently present the information as web-based reports with the integrated capability to drill down and present the information in a variety of ways across clinical programs, projects/trials and tasks such study start up, protocol development, medical writing etc. Virtify is currently extending the system to provide users the ability to create new trial plans dynamically and also to modify any trial-related information from the aggregate reports. This on-the-fly modification capability allows the client to see the effect of resource re-balancing in real time and also allows the client to make decisions on outsourcing specific activities of a trial based on resource availability. Finally, the system also allows for creation of project plans, including resource allocation, outsourcing/insourcing decisions based on trial type, therapeutic area, trial activities etc. Future versions of this application potentially include financial and budget management.
